Our Health

Highlighting Health Trends

Once thought to be hospitals, doctors, and nurses, Our Health is now a broad and changing interest area loaded with science, technology, engineering and math.

We know that how we eat, exercise and otherwise present ourselves in the world is radically changing. Being “health conscious” is not a trend, it is a way of life that is proliferating many aspects of how we will live in the 21st century.

This interest area was a snapshot of the trends and health-related topics from innovative companies changing the future of health.  Of course, there have been new innovations in healthcare since the Wired for 2020 event. For instance, GE has developed Vscan, a visualization tool the size of a smart phone that serves as a portable, noninvasive device to see what is going on inside a person's body.  In another example, Johns Hopkins University researchers have developed an infrared scanning system that noninvasively detects melanoma, a deadly skin cancer.

GE Healthcare

The GE Healthcare team featured the newest, most advanced compact Ultrasound unit the size of a laptop.  The mobile device greatly increases access for patient care around the world.  GE Healthcare is dedicated to helping transform healthcare to enable professionals to discover new ways to predict, diagnose, monitor and treat disease earlier.
